This implant is a boon for the individual who can hear at all or who find it very hard to hear properly. The implant replicates the functioning of the cochlear in such an efficient way that the hearing feels very natural.
While it might sound very similar to cochlear implants, in reality, it is very different from the latter. Both cochlear implants and hearing aid implants are responsible for the conversion of sound waves into electrical impulses. The real difference starts after this process, in the case of cochlear implants, the electrical impulse is then sent to the brain. On the other hand, hearing aid implant imparts this impulse to an amplifier, which is responsible for the increase in the volume of the sound received.

A systematic literature review published in 2016 found that studies comparing the two approaches were generally small, not randomized, and retrospective so was not useful for making generalizations; it is not known which approach is safer or more effective.
