Roemheld syndrome is a combination of symptoms that appears together. There are group of heart problems that occurs due to changes in gastro-intestine. It is also known as gastro cardiac syndrome or gastro heart syndrome.

The symptoms of roemheld syndrome are – • Chest tightness • Heartburn like pain • Feel of pressure on the chest

The accumulation of excessive gas in the gastro-intestine causes roemheld syndrome.

Electrocardiogram, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiography tests are used to diagnose roemheld syndrome.

The treatment is done depending on the trigger factor of roemheld syndrome.

In severe cases medicines such as dimethicone or simethicone may be used. Anticholinergics, antacids, alpha and beta blockers, anticonvulsants are helpful in managing the symptoms of roemheld symptom.

Roemheld syndrome is not a common condition and is considered an obsolete medical diagnosis.
