Six screws are then implanted into the jaw, which need to be left to integrate with the surrounding bone and tissue - this can take up to six months. In the meantime a temporary set of dentures will be provided. During the follow-up visit the implant bridge can then be fixed to the screws. Complications and side-effects following the fitting of all-on-6 implant are rare. Some patients experience mild discomfort or swelling as the denture settles in to the jaw, but this usually wears off after a few days. Most all-on-6 dental implants will remain in good condition for around 15-20 years.
